Key Takeaways From HR Tech Europe
Last week, the IntraWorlds team had the opportunity to visit the world’s fastest growing HR event – the HR Tech Europe in Amsterdam. HR Tech Europe is an event focusing on people strategy, technology as an enabler, and game changing HR. This was our second time at HR Tech and it was great to see how much can change in one year. This year, the IntraWorlds booth was a priority destination to visit. With more of an audience to entertain, we never stopped introducing and evangelizing our candidate relationship management and corporate alumni solutions. It was also a great opportunity for our Managing Director Dr. Martin Heibel to meet new and upcoming industry leaders.
HR Tech Europe was filled with thought provoking presentations, international delegates, and countless possibilities for learning. We were very excited to see top HR influencers, such as Bill Boorman, William Tincup, and John Sumser. Josh Bersin of Bersin by Deloitte really captured the theme of the event when he said “tomorrows HR solutions will be radically different”. Throughout the event, the message that there is a lot of change and disruptiveness within the industry was frequently repeated. Some key takeaways include:
• Ray Wang spoke about how the future of work will be impacted largely by transparency. He spoke about the current workplace being split into 5 generations, and how it is no longer based on age, but on digital proficiency. He also emphasized the importance of mobile, stating that it is not a device, but a way of working.
• Google’s presentations were very popular. Thomas Davies and his team continuously spoke about providing their employees with a mission, transparency, and a voice. “If you give people freedom, they will do amazing things.”
• Our good friend Prof. Dr. Armin Trost spoke about performance appraisal in an agile environment, telling us that traditional performance appraisal no longer succeeds and that we must think in terms of teams and networks.
• Debbie Landers of IBM Smarter Workforce presented her topic “How to get the most out of Talent” and explained how empowered employees have new expectations. Engaging them helps to drive the business.
I cannot forget to mention our Bavarian “Lebkuchenherz” – a traditional Bavarian gingerbread in the shape of a heart. Visitors at our stand received the treat with the message “We ❤ Talents“, and took them around the world. Many could not even resist asking for an extra heart for their colleagues, family members, and their own sweethearts. The big question is how many gingerbread cookies really reached their destination and were not eaten on the way home. 🙂
Overall, HR Tech Europe was a huge success for IntraWorlds. We are excited and anxious to see what leads and discussion points will result from it, and of course we are looking forward to the next HR event. Our traditional Bavarian treats will definitely be in attendance because we, at IntraWorlds, ❤Talents.
